This paper presents the application of a recently developed framework for nonlinear input-state estimation, namely a Finite Element (FE)-aided Kalman Filter, for the estimation of the nonlinear response of an offshore jacket structure subjected to strong waves and experiencing structural damage. The outcome of the framework consists of estimated dynamic responses and of nonlinear FE analysis outputs. The latter can be used for the identification of the structural damage, which can then be compared with the true one. Two applications are presented in this paper: one considering only acceleration measurements and one considering acceleration and velocity measurements.
