Abstract

The GICON® - Tension Leg Platform (TLP) is a floating offshore foundation for wind turbines. This paper describes the basic design of the platform as a new technology to advance offshore wind to water depths above 60 m. Furthermore the model tests of the structure at the former "Versuchsanstalt für Wasserbau and Schiffbau" VWS BERLIN are described. The experimetal setup and some basic results of the towing tank tests, with the focus on the behavior of the floating foundation during the transport operation, will be reported. The towing tests were therefore performed at different carriage speeds and wave heights.
