A new equipment for measuring the setting precision of flood hole and air hole Open/Close devices of the underwater vehicle is discussed in this paper. This equipment is a simple joint type, flexible three-coordinate measuring machine which is not based on the Cartesian coordinate method. The mechanism mathematical model is discussed and the iterative method of multi-point calibration based on the least square method is proposed. The whole system is simulated and the result shows that this equipment has greater measuring range, convenience and flexibility usages, higher measuring accuracy, simpler mechanical structure and better adaptability to working condition compared with the three coordinate measuring machines in Cartesian coordinate method.
