Abstract

Pre-fabrication, Preassembly, Modularization and Offsite Fabrication (PPMOF) is a forthcoming trend in the LNG plant engineering and construction industry. Module ocean transportation subsequently becomes a critical step when module fabrication yards and jobsites are spread across continents. Therefore, accelerations induced during ocean transportation will have significant impact on module design and structural integrity management.

Current acceleration criteria definition for module design is either derived from industry recognized rules and codes or based on analytical prediction. In-situ acceleration monitoring and benchmarking will bridge the gap between rule- and analysis-based predictions, which makes the real time acceleration measurements vital for a complete module design process.
