Abstract

Three formation models are applied to test hydraulic fracture patterns of shale gas reservoirs. To consider complex natural fractures in shale gas formation, rate and pressure functions are calculated based on dual porosity, dual permeability and stimulated reservoir volume (SRV) models for various reservoir types. Type curves from the numerical simulations provide various flow regimes in log-log plots of dimensionless rate and pressure functions versus dimensionless material balance time. Type curve matching technique is applied using set of type curves generated from simulations and synthetic rate data in shale gas model. This study provides shale gas production pattern of a hydraulically fractured horizontal well.
