Abstract
This paper presents a conceptual active control system of natural period of fixed offshore wind turbine structure by installing a water tank in upper part of tower in order to meet the natural period requirement of wind turbine. Since the water filled in the tank changes mass and also dynamic behavior of structure, structural design is provided in terms of strength, fatigue and pile bearing assessment considering wind, wave and current load with appropriate dynamic effect as well as dead load. Structural natural period changes and consequential impact on structural design are investigated.
