With the rapid development of offshore wind energy development, cable laying vessel, as the key construction equipment of power transmission in offshore wind farm construction, needs to be upgraded urgently. Firstly, this paper identifies the defects and shortcomings of the current submarine cable construction ship in China. Then, combined with the requirements of submarine cable laying technology in the future market, ocean navigation operation and transportation with large cable capacity, and dynamic positioning ability, the overall design scheme of the new generation of submarine cable construction ship is studied and analyzed in depth from the key technologies such as multi-functional cable laying operation line layout, ship rapidity and seakeeping, hull structure design and dynamic positioning ability analysis suitable for deep sea construction and large cable capacity. Finally, the overall design route of large-scale CLV suitable for future submarine cable construction is obtained, which provides an engineering reference for the overall design of such ships and the expansion of their operational weather window.
Offshore wind power is currently the only commercially viable large-scale marine renewable green energy source. China has abundant offshore wind resources. According to the wind energy resource survey conducted by the National Meteorological Center in 2010, the technically exploitable wind energy resource at a height of 100 meters is estimated to be 210 GW in offshore areas with water depths of 5-25 meters and 190 GW in areas with water depths of 25-50 meters. The annual operating hours can exceed 4000 hours. The Chinese Wind Energy Association has assessed the long-term technical development potential of China's offshore wind resources to exceed 3500 GW. The South China Sea and other regions are among the areas with the best wind energy resources in the country, possessing the natural endowment for large-scale development of offshore wind power.
