An informal Workshop on the subject of "Education and Rock Mechanics" was held at the time of the Eurock '93 Symposium in Lisbon. It was attended by about twenty persons including interested Conference delegates and members of the ISRM Commission on Education. Formal minutes of the meeting were not taken. However, a lively centred around activities of the Commission including preparation of a "curriculum guide" for teaching rock mechanics courses, the ISRM education collection of slides, video tapes and microcomputer software, and activities to assist professors and students from economically disadvantaged countries including the "Library Assistance" and "Conference Assistance" programs.
