Google SketchUp is a kind of 3D modeling software which directly faces the creative design process, with the advantages of easy to use and strong function. 3D modeling is always the hotspot and nodes in dangerous rock masses disaster research on the basis of characteristics of the geotechnical engineering. This paper firstly introduces the train of method about 3D modeling of dangerous rock masses using SketchUp; and then an example of T8 to T12 fracture sections at Lianzi Cliff is given to introduce 3D modeling processes of SketchUp; at last, the realistic 3D model of dangerous rock masses is showed. The conclusion shows that constructing 3D modeling of dangerous rock masses using SketchUp is an ideal method.
