Summary
Gel plugs (GP's) have been used in the eastern U.S. for many years. They are a versatile and simple method of temporarily plugging a well. Gel plugs are often used to control a well while remedial workovers are performed. This paper describes the various types of gel plugs and their applications. Case histories are given for gel plug applications.
