Post-stack hydrocarbon detection methods have the advantage of high efficiency and easy to carry out, but they are severely influenced by seismic amplitude. In order to get more reliable and accurate hydrocarbon detection results in complicated area, pre-stack direct hydrocarbon index (DHI) methods based on seismic gathers become the research focuses in recent years. However, one of the most important basis of pre-stack DHI methods is high-quality seismic gathers, which is a big challenge for seismic processing in complex areas. Poor-quality seismic gathers with unexpected AVO responses often occur in the areas of intricate sedimentary conditions, which may lead to obvious absorption and attenuation phenomena. According to the real challenges of Neogene in Bohai Bay, a series of research on the relationship between spectrum and AVO response are implemented on both the synthetic and real seismic data. Then adaptive spatial optimization versus offset method on seismic gathers is proposed in this paper on the basis of the high fidelity property of low-frequency seismic data. And this method is applied to M oilfield in Bohai Bay successfully.
