A fiber-optic cable in a pre-existing subsea umbilical that connects subsea infrastructure and surface platforms was used to record seismic shots from a concurrent ocean bottom nodes (OBN) campaign in 2019 at the Atlantis field, Gulf of Mexico. Distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) data with clear seismic signals at both low and high frequencies were obtained. This paper presents an initial analysis of the umbilical DAS data as well as a comparison between DAS and OBN geophone data from the same survey. Results demonstrate that subsea umbilical cables can be used successfully to acquire seismic signals.
