A Born modeling method for single-scattering waves in 2D visco-acoustic medium using Gaussian beams is presented in this paper. Based on the linear scattering theory, the method employs Gaussian beams to obtain the Green’s function and takes the influence of the medium’s viscosity on the seismic wave into account. The viscosity of the medium is expressed in the Gaussian beams. Meanwhile, considering the low efficiency of the frequency domain algorithm, an efficient time-domain implementation method is given: firstly, the receivers are divided by the windows, and then the reflectivity at the scattering points is mapped to local plane waves of the window center. Finally, the local plane waves are converted into seismic records at the receivers point by inverse local slant stacking method. The tests of two models show that the modeling method for visco-acoustic medium proposed in this paper boasts the advantages of high accuracy and high efficiency.
