The exploration practice of Bohai Oilfield in recent years shows that, the fine identification of micro faults at maturity stage of exploration is one of the key factors for structural interpretation and large-scale trap discovery. BZ29 structure is characterized by complex multi-directional fault superposition and the low signal-to-noise ratio of seismic data, especially the blurry section and lineups fault of micro faults in the seismic section. The identification of micro faults is directly related to the further exploration in this area. Firstly, the resolution of micro faults is improved by reshaping and frequency broadening of cepstrum, which is followed by adaptive bidirectional filtering for formation dip and “bidirectional” trend, so as to improve the imaging precision of micro faults. Then, a new generation of coherence volume calculation method is adopted to identify the distribution of micro faults. Finally, a set of micro fault recognition technology suitable for this area is formed. Result shows that the original single small trap is transformed into large-scale structural trap group by the interpretation of micro faults. 100 million tons of oil is found in BZ29 structure and all the traps are proved to be effective by drilling. It is therefore of great practical significance for the progressive exploration and development and the expansion of reserves in the complex structural area of Bohai Oilfield.
