The multidimensional leak detection system (LDS) makes use of all measured and estimated data that are sensitive to leaks. The estimated data are provided by a digital twin powered by a dynamic multiphase flow simulator. A signature is a normalized deviation measure between the measured and the corresponding estimated variable. The LDS uses signatures and regions and detects leaks based on pattern recognition in multivariable signature vectors.

This generalized multidimensional LDS has proven to be robust with respect to field sensor faults and drifts. The number of false alarms is reduced to almost zero.
