ABSTRACT
This paper concentrates on experience gained and techniques currently used in the evaluation of horizontal wells in an oil-rim located in the unconsolidated sands of the Rabi field, onshore Gabon, West Africa. Valuable experience leading to improved understanding has been obtained in the areas of:
- –
Open Hole Logging, including Fault detection and (Wireline) Formation testing
- –
Production Logging on Coiled Tubing, including the use of Pulsed Neutron logs to identify gas and water in the horizontal section
- –
Downhole pressure measurement for understanding horizontal well ‘dynamics’ and for production optimisation
- –
Horizontal well test interpretation in a compartmentalised oil-rim.
